Round 4 Inkberrow Women's Road Race

Unfortunately the race was abandoned after a crash just before the start of the last lap. The official race ambulance had already been pulled following a mechanical, with the medics following in the convoy. The crash required a ambulance to take a rider to hospital and there was no ongoing medical support for the race, so the right decision was made to abandon the race.
Up until that point though the race had been fast and furious in places, with perfect tarmac and low traffic. Riders were threatened from the warm up onwards with torrential downpours, although the weather held off until the race was abandoned around 80km.
Tammy Miller (DAS-Hutchinson) attacked on the back end of the first lap, with a 33 second gap until she was caught. Jen Lemen (PDQ Cycle Coaching Property Elite) counter-attacked soon after, but she was caught later on the same lap. Shortly after, the race was neutralised as the ambulance had a mechanical fault.
The medics were transferred to the race convoy and the race continued with a number of short-lived attacks, nothing really ever going clear.
Unfortunately, the race abandoning crash came just before the start of the last lap at 80km.
No results will be published as a result of the race being abandoned.
A massive thanks from the BWTC goes to Rocky Pearson of Solihull CC, organiser of the race - for putting on a fantastic day of racing and working with the comms to make difficult decisions on the spot.
We wish all injured riders a safe and healthy recovery - rest up.
